The Sterling-Rock Falls Family YMCA has been serving the Sauk Valley area for 120 years. Since 1889, the YMCA has provided quality programs and services to the people in the Sterling and Rock Falls communities. The present facility replaced the original downtown YMCA in May 2000. YMCA membership has increased from 800 members to over 2,800 members since the move to the new facility. The YMCA works to accomplish its mission of providing programs for people of all ages that enrich mind, body and spirit through a variety of programming including youth sports programs, AfterSchool program, Summer Day and Fun Day Camps, aquatics programs, swim lessons, water fitness, lifeguarding, scuba, fitness classes, cardio equipment, weightlifting equipment, and personal training. In 2008 over 7,245 children and adults participated YMCA programs and over 100,000 people used YMCA facility. The YMCA has continually worked to expand and improve the programs necessary to serve the needs of our ever-changing communities. The current 32,000 sq. foot facility includes a 6-lane swimming pool, pool lounge area, aerobics room, gymnasium, wellness center, locker rooms, and two large meeting rooms for birthday parties, babysitting, and special events. Soccer fields and a youth baseball diamond are adjacent to the YMCA.
